Now i will show you the simplest way to block avnotify.exe. This metod avoid the annoyance message "The size of the file AVNOTIFY.EXE has been modified! ...ect".

The program gpedit.msc is present in Ultimate/Professional/Enterprise versions only. If you have other versions, i'm sorry, i have no solutions for you. Start>gpedit.msc

Go into the folder "Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Software Restriction Policies". Right click on "Software Restriction Policies", choose the menu's voice "New Software Restriction Policies", in this way we active the security policies's windows.

After the activation of the policies it will appears two sub-directory. Go under sub-directory called "Additional Rules". Right click in the blank area and choose voice's menu "New Path Rule...".

Search the file avnotify.exe in installation's directory of Antivir, usually it's C:\Programmi\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\avnotify.exe

End! Enjoy your Avira Antivir! And use No Notify Avira to remove the starup splash screen of Antivir, it will increase you computer boot-speed.

There are many guides on internet about how modify the registry keys of system to disable the updating advertising of Avira Antivir.
For the expert there are no problems to enter and modify regedit, but i think about the beginners that could find some difficulties, so i have written a simple program for their.
The program No Notify Avira removes the updating advertising and startup splash screen of Avira Antivir.

For Avira Antivir Classic 8:

I just have added the entry /nosplash that allows to hide the startup splash screen of antivir.
For some version of antivir 8 could be neccessary write -nosplash (thanks Gabriele)

With this string type REG_SZ we have inserted avnotify.exe in the restricted software policies of windows, this application will be blocked by the system which banning the executing.


For Avira Antivir Desktop 9 and 10:
